Vestas Wind Systems won a contract to supply towers to wind projects in North America that use other manufacturers' turbines, the company said. The deal marks the first time that Vestas will furnish towers to non-Vestas turbines and is part of a new approach by the company to drum up new business amid sluggish demand. The company will be hiring at least 100 workers for its Pueblo, Colo., tower factory by the end of the first quarter to meet the new order.
