Women comprise just 25% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering and math; however, those who are breaking into STEM fields are making about 33% more than women working in other industries, according to statistics from the White House Council on Women and Girls. Representatives from trade schools in Pennsylvania visit area high schools to encourage more girls to pursue STEM fields, and some women working in such fields are calling for more opportunities and programs for girls at the high-school level.
