The market for fragrances is projected to grow through 2017, according to a study by Mintel, and packaging plays a significant part in driving that growth, said Sheherazade Chamlou, SGD North America's vice president of sales and marketing in the perfumery department. Among the fragrance packaging trends to look for this year are unique glass effects, including a crackling effect, and unusual bottle shapes such as Issey Miyake's Pleats Please, which uses a combination of sharp edges and flat surfaces to give off the effect of movement that might be found in a piece of clothing.
