Artist and teacher Fax Gilbert turns history lessons into performances as he travels the Midwest, inspiring students as they discover the fun and excitement of theater and history. During a recent stay at Paddock Lane Elementary School in Beatrice, Neb., fourth-graders became performers in the "Great State History Play," a production that covers subjects including pioneer living, the Underground Railroad and early schools. "They are going to learn Nebraska history and they going to perform and they will learn about body language and nonverbal communication," Gilbert said.
