National Grid USA has finalized its $40 million investment in Clean Line Energy Partners, the companies said. Clean Line will use the funds toward four high-voltage, direct-current transmission lines that are expected to carry wind-generated power from the Midwest. Each of the proposed cables will have the capacity to deliver as much as 3,500 megawatts, which Clean Line President Michael Skelly has described as the "equivalent of three Hoover Dams."
