Sugarcane production in Brazil's center-south region will increase to between 566 million and 580 million metric tons in the 2013-2014 season, the highest ever for the region, according to milling company Usina Alta Mogiana. "Processing all this cane will be a great challenge, especially in the month of April, when we estimate at least 50 million tons of cane will need to be crushed in order to avoid leftover cane for next year," Usina said.
