Ed Walter, president and CEO of Host Hotels & Resorts, has expressed confidence that solid industry metrics last year and at the start of 2013 will help sustain the hotel industry's growth in the near term. "The lodging recovery is pressing on well due to high demand trends and low supply. We believe this cycle will continue to gain momentum through 2013 and 2014," Walters said. Host says its revenue per available room rose 5.8% during the fourth quarter, while average daily rate and occupancy increased 2.8% and 2 percentage points, respectively.
