Connected devices took another step forward at the Mobile World Congress in Spain as companies introduced technologies and products that enable smartphones, tablets and their "phablet" hybrids to control many products in and out of the home. Qualcomm introduced a connected home powered by the open-source software framework AllJoyn that allows smartphones to turn on speakers when entering a room. AT&T demonstrated its Digital Life platform that puts cars and homes within reach of wireless devices.
