The Gulf of Mexico oil spill shouldn't be blamed solely on BP as it was the result of failures by several firms, the U.K. oil major said in a civil trial over the incident. Robert Brock, a lawyer representing BP, cited cement failures by Halliburton and maintenance mistakes by Transocean. "That bad slurry that was pumped to the bottom of that well was what caused this well initially to flow," Brock said of the cement.
