School districts in Texas that have switched to propane autogas-powered buses are benefiting financially from the reinstatement of the 50-cent-per-gallon alternative fuel tax credit, writes Jackie Mason, director of education and marketing for the Propane Council of Texas. Dallas County Schools, which has the state's biggest propane-powered school bus fleet, is expected to recoup about $500,000 per year through the tax incentive and sees annual fuel-cost savings of about $1.5 million, an official said.
