Qualcomm said that mobile devices based on the new 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard will arrive in mid-summer, an executive said Sunday, adding that first in line will be smartphones and tablets that run on the chipmaker's Snapdragon 800 series processors. Murthy Renduchintala also said the new technology will not only improve data transfer speeds, but also the battery life of wireless devices.
