The Conroe Independent School District in Texas will receive a 50-cent-per-gallon tax credit for 2012 and 2013 for its school buses that run on propane autogas. The credit is part of the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. The district began operating 25 propane autogas buses last year. "One of the things that encouraged us was the grant that we received. In our analysis, we found [the propane] buses are cheaper to drive per mile and require less maintenance. What we are doing is trying to be economical in the use of the citizens' tax dollars," said school board President Ray Sanders.
