Despite last year's historic decision to allow women into the previously all-male Augusta National club, some other private clubs aren't following suit. In North Carolina, there are all-male, all-white and all-black clubs that have no plans to desegregate their membership.
"Private organizations that are not open to the public are run by their members who make the rules as to whether to admit or expel members in accordance with those rules, and courts, except under extremely limited circumstances, don't get involved," says attorney Gary Shipman.
