Five companies have indicated interest in building offshore wind farms in the waters off North Carolina, according to federal documents released Tuesday. Although regulatory, technical and financial hurdles remain, the level of interest shown by companies bodes well for the emerging offshore wind industry in North Carolina, said Brian O'Hara, president of the North Carolina Offshore Wind Coalition. "The chances are very good. I don't think it's a question of if, I think it's a question of when," he said.
