The Kenyan group Sisi Ni Amani has embraced new media as a way to help keep the peace during Monday's elections. The group sent out text messages urging calm in response to reports of unrest or violence at the polls.
The U.S. and China have drafted sanctions against North Korea designed to prevent that country's nuclear program from progressing further. The sanctions,in part, focus on North Korea's financial transactions. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called the sanctions necessary, and Russia is also supporting them.
Half the Sky Movement: The Game launched Monday on Facebook and educates players about empowering women while raising funds to help women through the United Nations Foundation and other groups. The game is an extension of the book and documentary, "Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide," created by journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.
Democratic vice-presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden, in this clip from "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," declares his opposition to California's constitutional marriage ban. "I think it's regressive. I think it's unfair, and so I'd vote no," said Biden, who also opposes a federal marriage ban. Meanwhile, in an interview with CBN, Republican vice-presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin referenced her vote in support of Alaska's constitutional marriage ban in backing a federal marriage amendment.
