The world's wind power capacity grew 7.8% in 2012 over the previous year to 285,700 megawatts, according to a report from BTM Consult. The group lowered its forecast for new wind power installations through 2017 to 241,620 MW, down 10% from its forecast in 2011, citing "challenging market conditions" in the U.S., China and mature markets such as Spain and Italy, the report showed.
