Transocean's Deepwater Horizon was a "state-of-the-art" rig and the company's drilling crew received proper training, well control expert Calvin Barnhill said during a civil trial over the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Barnhill was the first witness that Transocean called in the trial. BP was ultimately accountable for the correct interpretation of a key safety test before the incident, Barnhill said.
