The Federal Reserve is shortening the window between when it releases policy statements and when Chairman Ben Bernanke holds news conferences. All eight meetings of the Federal Reserve will now end with statements issued at 2 p.m. Eastern time. Four of those announcements will be followed by a 2:30 p.m. news conference, as opposed to the previous schedule, which had a two-hour gap between the statements and Mr. Bernanke's media address.
