FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret Hamburg said in a post on her agency's blog Friday that compounding pharmacies should pay fees for the FDA oversight needed to prevent a recent meningitis outbreak from happening again. Hamburg is hoping that the Senate committee in control of the issue "will yield strong legislation for patients across the nation" as serious problems persist in compounding pharmacies. Congress could use registration or other kinds of fees to finance additional oversight, Hamburg said.
