The transit-service application HopStop has reached the 3 million download milestone, Harrison Weber writes. The app offers bus, taxi, subway, biking and walking directions in 500 cities, and plans to expand to the U.K. and France after recently launching in New Zealand and Australia. HopStop's growth was accelerated by the period when Google Maps lost its role as the default for iOS devices. But now Google Transit is HopStop's main competitor, Weber writes.
