Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad proposed spending $4 million on programs to help increase the number of physicians practicing in the state, including $2 million annually for the Rural Physician Loan Repayment Program, which would be expanded to include emergency medicine and OB/GYN physicians. He also proposed $2 million for a program that would provide matching grants to hospitals that add medical residency positions.
