Growing adoption of tablet devices may have been one reason for a first-quarter rise in cost per click -- following six quarters with no increases -- and a 33% increase in client spend for paid search, according to a Covario report. Click-through rates were also up by double digits, both by comparison with the previous quarter and the year-earlier period. Meanwhile, first-quarter mobile advertising more than doubled globally from a year before, also growing 51% from the fourth quarter.
