As of April 1, MediaTek will reduce the price of its quad-core MT6589 processor to $18 from $20, amid a range of price cuts for processors going into mobile phones, the Economic Daily News reports. The chip company hopes to prime demand for its quad-core processors through the price cuts, while also initiating volume production of its lower-cost MT6589m processor, the Chinese-language newspaper says.
