Samsung Electronics has based its new Galaxy S4 wireless charging ability on the Qi standard embedded in most smartphones, but the South Korean electronics maker said this week that it will switch to a new standard based on magnetic resonance charging that can control multiple devices. "We think it will address the charging needs of a much wider audience," said Michael Lin of the Samsung Mobile Marketing Alliances. Samsung and Qualcomm last year formed the Alliance for Wireless Power to develop and push the new, unnamed specification.
