Sequestration cuts in Medicare payments for physicians, hospitals and other health care providers will be 2%, which may be less than cuts in any deficit reduction package hammered out by lawmakers, health experts said. While the sequester cuts Medicare spending by $100 billion over 10 years, John Rother of the National Coalition on Health Care said the bigger worry is the possibility of a deficit reduction package that could cut from $400 billion to $500 billion.
