The Wyoming Department of Revenue has agreed to lower the estimated property value of Duke Energy's Top of the Wind wind farm to $296.9 million, down from its original assessment of $414.7 million. The settlement means Converse County will receive $820,000 less in taxes from the project, said Joel Schell, the county treasurer. Despite the smaller revenue for the county, the new appraisal is still higher than a previous estimate by the project's contractor, said Tammie McGee, a communications manager at Duke Energy.
