In today's climate of new standards and evolving instructional practice, teachers can get discouraged with the new programs and expectations placed on them, retired educator Laurie Barnoski writes in this commentary. Instead, she offers six ideas for administrators to encourage teachers, including surveying teachers' opinions about the effectiveness of programs and tossing those that are not working. "Think carefully about what and how much you are asking your teachers to do," she writes.
