Freight carload volume on U.S. railroads fell 2% for the week ending April 20 year-on-year, but intermodal rose 0.6%, according to the Association of American Railroads. Of the 10 carload categories, four posted gains led by petroleum and petroleum products with a 40.1% increase. North American chemical shipments dropped 0.1% in the latest week, AAR noted.
