Freight carload traffic on U.S. railroads rose 3.7% in the week ending April 6, compared with the year-ago level, and intermodal activity increased 0.2%, according to the Association of American Railroads. Petroleum shipments surged 52.9%, and eight of the 10 carload categories posted growth. Meanwhile, Mexican carload volume soared 22.4% and intermodal volume in Mexico was up 25% from the same period last year.
