Analysts speaking at the game development conference in San Francisco presented a wide variety of statistics and forecasts, this article notes. NPD's Liam Callahan said new retail games represented less than half of the $14.8 billion spent on games in the U.S. last year. While sales of new and used games were down in 2012, compared with 2011, digital games and downloadable content posted a 33.9% increase, he reported. Subscriptions were up 12.9% last year and mobile games gained 10.4%, NPD said.
