AT&T will introduce support for HD Voice service this year as part of its effort to transmit voice calls over its 4G network, Senior Vice President Kris Rinne said at an industry event. The carrier also plans "advanced LTE" service to improve its network. "HD Voice is part of our voice over LTE strategy," Rinne said. Rinne also took issue with those who deride wireless carriers as "dumb pipes," saying AT&T has built a solid data infrastructure that has become a conduit for third-party Web services.
