Sixth-grade science students at Lincoln Park Middle School in Duluth, Minn., are learning about aviation from representatives of the Duluth Aviation Institute as part of their physical-science curriculum. Lessons include such topics as flight control, weight and gravity and the effect of weather on flying and traffic patterns, all with the hope that students will consider careers in aviation. Students who receive scores in the top 15% of the 280-member sixth-grade class will earn a flight with a pilot.
