The Business Travel Coalition and the Global Business Travel Association have raised objections to the International Air Transport Association's New Distribution Capability -- the GBTA doing so in a comment filed with the Department of Transportation and the BTC through a sample letter for travel groups to submit to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. "GBTA believes an ill-advised shift in distribution dynamics will have negative consequences across the industry. Any changes made to the current, well established airfare distribution system may have huge cost implications and potentially harm downstream buyers," said Michael McCormick, executive director and chief operating officer of GBTA.
