California Attorney General Kamala Harris is warning application developers to fully disclose information collection to consumers or face legal action. Stressing voluntary compliance for now, Harris said at a University of California law school conference: "We're here to encourage ... innovation, and to work together to figure out how we can balance the litigation interests at play when we talk about the need for the consumer to have information, and the right that consumers should have to determine what they want to give up for what they get." Some developers at the conference expressed fear that privacy laws would be too ambiguous to comply with.
