Delta Air Lines and Blackberry announced a partnership to offer free in-flight Wi-Fi to Blackberry smartphone users. Delta offers the service through Gogo Wi-Fi, which is available on aircraft serving domestic routes.
Lufthansa is reaching out to leisure travelers by focusing more on passenger experience perks -- not only for business fliers. In addition to in-flight perks such as gummy bears for children, the airline is using social media to update fliers and deploying more self-service tools at airports.
The Airspace Lounge recently opened at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, offering access to all fliers. The lounge is in the main terminal near the Concourse B security checkpoint, and day passes cost $20 and up.
Brussels Airport and Brussels Airlines will pilot a program over the next few months that offers self-service luggage check-in. Two self-service units will be placed by the Brussels Airlines check-in area.
China Eastern Airlines will add head-up displays made by Rockwell Collins to its fleet of 58 narrow-body Boeing 737 jets. The new equipment will be installed between mid-2013 and 2015. Okay Airways also ordered the HUDs for its 10 Boeing 737 planes.
