Drug compounders are facing increased pressure from the FDA as the agency seeks greater regulatory power following a deadly meningitis outbreak tied to the New England Compounding Center. The FDA posted online reports Thursday listing the violations at 28 of 31 compounding pharmacies inspected between February and April. FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret Hamburg will speak at a House hearing Tuesday. "It may surprise some people to know that, even in light of the recent tragic events, some of the firms we inspect still challenge our authority to conduct full inspections of their facilities," Hamburg wrote on the FDA's blog.
