Farmers have sown 4% of this year's corn crop as of Sunday, down from 26% from a year earlier and below the five-year average of 16%, according to the Department of Agriculture. Only North Carolina's pace is above the five-year average, while 12 of the 17 other key corn-growing states have less than 5% of the crop planted, the USDA said.
