While its members were trying to cope with a tax season marked by delayed forms and changing rules, AICPA worked to mitigate the pain for its members, writes Edward S. Karl, CPA, AICPA's vice president of taxation. Karl credits AICPA members who serve on committees, technical resource panels and task forces for helping move the IRS to loosen some of the rules and make the tax season less painful than it could have been.
