Research suggests that one of the reasons women are underrepresented in business leadership may be that they are more bothered by ethically questionable situations than men are, writes Matthew Hutson. For example, in one study, men and women were asked to read job descriptions that included discussions of ethical issues. Women were less likely to be interested in the job descriptions that directed them to act in an unethical manner, the study found. The research implies that "if more women do enter the business world, standards of ethics may evolve," Hutson writes.
