The 67,000-square-foot Mediated Learning Center at De Anza Community College in Cupertino, Calif., uses a buoyancy-driven air-circulation system, which ventilates more than 80% of the building without fan power or air conditioning. To create air flow, the system uses the differences in air density inside and outside of the building. The building also features solar photovoltaic panels, water runoff control and a water conservation system.
