Health insurance exchanges instituted by the Affordable Care Act could speed the decline in employer-provided health coverage for early retirees, experts say. The number of retirees receiving the benefit has been declining for years as private- and public-sector employers have reduced or eliminated coverage because of costs. With the exception of some employers with highly skilled workers, "20 or 30 years from now, people won't know what you mean when you say 'retiree medical,' " said Helen Darling of the National Business Group on Health.
