Positive results on an FDG-PET scan may indicate poorer survival in patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer, according to findings presented at a cancer research meeting. Patients with the positive PET scan showed a median five-year survival of 67%, while survival for those with negative results was 80%. The method may help determine which patients should have adjuvant chemotherapy, researchers said.
