Nearly 1.03 billion D6 and 44.7 million D5 Renewable Identification Numbers were created in January, most of which were for ethanol production, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Domestic producers accounted for all of the D6 RINs and 2.99 million of the D5 advanced biofuel RINs, the EPA said. No cellulosic biofuel RINs were assigned during the month, according to the EPA.
