Montreal entrepreneur Geneviève Emond and her father, Daniel, invested $10 million to renovate a run-down ferry boat from the 1950s and convert it into a floating spa docked in the city's Old Port. Bota Bota has 18 treatment rooms, a restaurant and several private cabanas, and it saves on energy bills by using geothermal energy from the river for its heating needs. Opened in 2010, the popular spa attracts many downtown workers on lunch break and increased revenue by 60% last year.
