The value of construction put in place is expected to increase 8% this year, to $919 billion, compared with 2012, according to FMI's first-quarter outlook. The consultancy foresees a 47% increase in construction of multifamily homes and a 23% gain for single-family homes. FMI also expects single-digit increases in health care, manufacturing and power-related construction.
