Rory Cooper, the Human Engineering Research Laboratories' founding director, will become the first former Paralympics medalist to receive the Paralympic Scientific Award next month at the VISTA 2013 conference. Cooper will be recognized for his contributions to the Paralympic games, including research that has been published in more than 270 scientific publications and five patents for wheelchair applications. "I credit my involvement with the Paralympic movement as a significant contributor to making my life and professional career as rewarding as it has been," he said.
