A new bill, signed into law Wednesday by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal, lowers to 2.0 the grade point average required for a lottery-funded HOPE Scholarship in an attempt to encourage enrollment in the state's technical colleges. The required GPA was raised to 3.0 two years ago, leading to a significant drop in enrollment at the schools. "We need more college or technical college degrees in order to attract and fill the jobs of tomorrow," Deal said.
