Several factors are putting Germany off the track of reaching a goal of obtaining 80% of the country's energy from renewable sources by 2050, according to Siemens. Essentially, the current drive to renewables is pushing up the price of power and rendering the energy grid less reliable. "Energy must remain affordable for a modern industry that offers the basics for a clean and sustainable society," said Michael Suess, CEO of Siemens Energy.
