It doesn't matter how good your ideas are if you can't refine them and bring them to market in a timely manner, writes Jim Brown. To speed up R&D, create standard metrics for assessing the value of projects and seek to reject bad ideas more quickly to free up resources for more viable concepts. "In my experience, too few companies kill a development project once it's already underway," Brown writes.
