The share of renewable energy in the EU's electricity mix is expected to increase to more than 40% by 2020, making it more urgent to invest in a diversified portfolio to keep the balance between supply and demand, said grid operators' group Entsoe. Renewable energy is projected to account for 512 gigawatts of the region's 1,185 GW of generating capacity in 2020, exceeding the 471 GW estimated for fossil fuels, Entsoe said.
